Mbappé scores hat-trick as PSG clinches 5-0 victory in Ligue 1 round 28
Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) have secured their second straight win in the French top-flight after securing a 5-0 victory over Rennes at Parc des Princes on Sunday.
The match saw Kylian Mbappé score a hat-trick, the third time he has achieved this feat this season, and contributed to PSG's dominant performance.
The victory was also a perfect way for PSG to continue their unbeaten run in Ligue 1, which now stands at eight matches. The team has won five of those games and is currently sitting atop the table with 46 points from 27 matches.
Mbappé's hat-trick came in the 29th minute, and it was his first goal since December 18 against Lyon. He then scored again in the 43rd minute, before adding another two goals in the final half-hour of the game.
"Today was a great day for us," said PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino. "We played well and we were able to control the game."
Rennes struggled to find any rhythm throughout the match, and their inability to create any real threat made it clear that they were not capable of keeping up with PSG.
"This result shows how strong our squad is," added Pochettino. "We're very happy with what we've done today."
The victory means that PSG will be looking to maintain their lead at the top of the table when they take on Nice next weekend. They will hope to keep their unbeaten run intact while continuing to push for a record-extending seventh consecutive league title.
